For those familiar with the Mel Brooks comedy "Blazing Saddles" Robin’s character is much like Taggert. Never quite the equal of his partner (Hedley Lamarr) but anxious to please and necessary to move the story along.
Batman dressed conservatively in dark colors of blue and gray. By contrast, Robin’s Costume was very colorful. Batman was tall and muscular. Robin was… well, a Boy. Batman could handle the situation, but he could handle it better with Robin. They were called the Dynamic Duo representing both experience and youth.
So, this Halloween, don’t forget Robin. Without him, Batman is a pretty dull fellow with no one to talk to who thinks like he does and has the same determination to fight evil and defend right.
The whole bat story begins in the detective comics issue No27 from the late 1930s and was called The Batman and was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and Bruce Wayne has never looked back. Bob Kane’s creation was from the start a different type of superhero as he possess no superpowers, all he has is his intellect and super honed powers of crime deduction and with that and his great wealth and scientific technology it is with these powers that batman uses in his power struggle with the forces of evil in Gotham city. The caped crusader always appears in public in his bat costume with his trusty side kick Robin the boy wonder by his side to fight the villains of Gotham city Which include such distasteful and despicable characters as the Joker, the Riddler, Mr Freeze, the Penguin, Cat Woman and the mad hatter just to mention but a few. The 60s TV series with Adam West (who now does the voice of mayor west in family guy) as Bruce Wayne and Burt Ward as robin, very rapidly captured the imagination of the 60s generation and that fascination with the tv series still continues to this day, The high moral stance that the Bruce Wayne took in the 60s series went a long way in teaching children right from wrong, which some people today feel is missing from some of the current crop of children’s superhero programs. Batman is a high master of martial arts and one of the greatest criminologists the world of crime has ever encountered, His mind never rests when it comes to solving crime. he does not drink nor smoke and is a crime-fighter truly worthy of the title… Superhero of our time.
